A new coup against the Indians in Brazil

Despite its great importance in the process of miscegenation that made the Brazilian people, the Indians have been the main victims of the Brazilian State since 1500. When not being exterminated and expelled from their lands, our Indian brothers are only forgotten by the authorities. They only return to matter when annoy the powerful Brazilians who want to control the mineral resources that exist in the areas where they live.

Lula and Dilma governments have done much for the Indians. Still, in recent times we are seeing an increase in violence against them in Brazil. The Cops generally do not protect the Indians. Many have been ambushed and even sprayed with pesticides. The case of India whose baby was beheaded in her lap became the symbol of the new era of hatred of Indians taking over in my country.

When referring to the three matrix of giving rise to the Brazilian people (Indians, Africans and Portuguese) Darcy Ribeiro said “of their balls we came”, Of the balls Indians and Portuguese I came because I have an ancestor who “took an Indian in the woods” as it was still common in the mid-nineteenth century. Hence the deep respect and admiration I have for my brothers. Something of them is me. And judging by what has occurred in Brasilia now, I must admit that my best portion is indigenous.

To date, much has been said about a future government Michel Temer / Eduardo Cunha. However, no one remembered to refer to Indians. For this reason I decided to play in this matter. The old military dictatorship starred in episodes of extreme violence against the Indians. This was officially recognized by the Commission of Truth. The recognition given to the Indians, however, did not result in a greater respect for human rights by their farmers and racists who attack and kill Indians for greed or pleasure.

Eduardo Cunha, a religious fanatic, hates the Indians and all they represent. The Speaker of the House of Representatives do not see the Indians as human beings with rights, among them to preserve their own culture and to inhabit the lands they occupy since immemorial times. For Eduardo Cunha the Brazilian Indians are only a hindrance to capitalist exploitation of my country. At most he believes that the Indians should be converted by shepherds as or more disgusting than himself.

In an effort to become president without having to compete in a presidential election, Michel Temer is connected now to the landowners who enslave workers and who practice violence against the Indians. If the coup was successful, Michel Temer can not defend the Indians without compromising the political base that is building. Nor can expect support of his enemies if he comes to power.

In addition to the illegitimate, the new government is born with a huge problem: what to do with the Brazilian Indians. The Michel Temer / Eduardo Cunha certainly tend to treat our indigenous brothers with the same disdain and violence that the old military dictatorship.

These two children will be the biggest victims of the coup in Brazil. Their blood is on your hands if you refuse to defend the legality of the government Dilma Rousseff overthrown by thugs and criminals.
